Terms of Service
The rules, kept short.
Know My Rep is a free educational project. These are the terms you agree to by using it.

What this site is for
Know My Rep exists to help students understand how government works, find out who represents them, and make their own informed choices at the ballot box. It is free to use for that purpose.
It is not advice
Nothing here is legal advice, and nothing here tells you how to vote. Civix explains how government works; it does not recommend candidates, parties, or ballot measures. If a decision matters, check it against an official source and talk to someone you trust.
Civix can be wrong
Civix generates answers from a set of civic sources and declines to answer when those sources don't support one. That design reduces confident nonsense, but it does not eliminate it. Treat Civix as a well-read study partner, not as an authority, and follow the source links when accuracy matters.
Nonpartisanship
Know My Rep is not affiliated with any party, campaign, or candidate, and does not endorse any of them. If you think something on the site reads as partisan, please tell us — that is a bug worth reporting.
Who can use it
You must be at least 13 years old to use this site. If you are under 18, get a parent or guardian's permission before sending us any personal information, including your email address.
Using the site fairly
- Don't try to break, overload, or scrape the service.
- Don't use it to harass anyone, including the officials it helps you find.
- Don't present its output as official government information.
No warranty
The site is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind. We can't promise it will always be available, accurate, or up to date, and we aren't liable for decisions you make based on it.
Changes
These terms may change as the site grows. The date at the top of this page will tell you when they last did.
